Why National Tap Water Day?
On Wednesday 24 September 2025, the Dutch drinking water companies will jointly organise National Tap Water Day. The companies are inviting all primary schools and out-of-school care centres to focus on this day on tap water as a healthy and sustainable thirst quencher. Using a short, engaging lesson, children from years 1 to 8 will discover why tap water is a healthy and sustainable choice. Schools and out-of-school care centres that register will receive free educational materials, including discussion posters, videos, experiments and fun energisers. The package also includes a Tap Water Day poster for the classroom. This way, you can organise a sparkling Tap Water Day lesson in no time!

Drinking water companies offer a joint programme
Drinking enough water contributes to a healthy lifestyle. Nowhere in the world is the quality of drinking water as high as it is in the Netherlands. To make children aware of this and explain why drinking tap water is a healthy and sustainable choice, the ten Dutch drinking water companies (Brabant Water, Dunea, Evides Waterbedrijf, Oasen, PWN, Vitens, Waterbedrijf Groningen, Waternet, WMD and WML) jointly organise National Tap Water Day.
For primary schools and out-of-school care
All primary schools and out-of-school care centres can take part in National Tap Water Day and use the free educational materials. The materials are offered at three levels: years 1–3, years 4–6 and years 7–8. the Dutch drinking water companies. If you register before 12 September, the materials will be sent to you by post. By registering your class, you have a chance to win a guest lesson from a real water expert. The winning classes will be announced on Friday 12 September 2025 and informed by telephone or email.
