This year, more than half a million pupils will once again have breakfast together at primary schools across the country. This allows them to experience for themselves how enjoyable, tasty and important a healthy start to the day is. There is also special educational material explaining what a healthy breakfast consists of and how children can improve their breakfast habits in small steps.
Complete packages
Participating schools will receive well-stocked breakfast packages for all pupils. Varied and in accordance with the guidelines of the Wheel of Five. The package includes wholegrain bread, wholegrain rolls, currant buns, gluten-free bread, low-fat margarine, 30+ cheese, strawberry jam, fruit/vegetable spread, semi-skimmed milk, semi-skimmed yoghurt, muesli, tea, cucumbers and apples. The package also contains festive placemats, colourful classroom posters and a fun and educational gift for home. This year, all participants will have the packages delivered to their school.
Breakfast with the mayor
Every school that registers also has the chance to be selected by its municipality for the Mayors' Breakfast during that first week of November. A school class can then have breakfast with the mayor at the town hall and ask them anything they like. All primary schools can register on the National School Breakfast website. They can choose their own breakfast day during breakfast week and the number of pupils. Those who register early are guaranteed participation in the 17th edition of this educational breakfast celebration.
