During this session, Thijs van der Meulen and Marieke Dekker from the School Gardens Alliance will tell you more about the National Digging Challenge. Why a digging challenge? What do we have in mind? How do you organise a digging activity? And what materials are available? Do you have any fun ideas for a digging event in your school garden that you would like to share to inspire others? Those are certainly welcome!
During School Garden Week 2026, the soil will be central. With the slogan ‘Health Begins in the Soil’, the School Gardens Alliance aims to involve as many schools as possible in school gardening. Don’t (yet) have a school garden? You can still take part and give the children a real school garden experience during this week.
