As many as 250 municipalities took part in the 2022 edition of the Mayors’ Breakfast. At the Mayors’ Breakfast, one class from a primary school in a municipality is hosted by the mayor.

  • Raising awareness of the importance of a healthy breakfast.
  • Strengthening the connection between local young citizens and the mayor.

Nicole Beukers explains that both healthy nutrition and sufficient exercise are important. “A wonderful initiative such as a Mayors’ Breakfast is a fantastic way not only to highlight the importance of a healthy start to the day, but also the importance of exercise, for example through The Daily Mile.”

Twentieth edition of National School Breakfast

The National School Breakfast is celebrating its twentieth edition from 7 to 11 November. Two thousand schools have registered for this edition. During the National School Breakfast, parents do not have to prepare breakfast for once. The children have breakfast together at school and learn in a fun way about the importance of eating a healthy breakfast every day. The 2021 Breakfast Monitor showed that 1 in 25 children between the ages of 4 and 12 do not eat breakfast every day.
