Why National Tap Water Day?
On Wednesday 24 September 2025, the Dutch drinking water companies will jointly organize National Tap Water Day. We invite all primary schools and after-school care centers to focus on tap water as a healthy and sustainable thirst-quencher on this day. Through a short, engaging lesson, children from grades 1 to 8 discover why tap water is a healthy and sustainable choice. Schools and after-school care centers that register will receive free educational materials.
Why exactly do the Dutch drinking water companies organize National Tap Water Day, and what will the day look like for your school? You can find out in this presentation.
Drinking water companies offer a joint programme
Drinking enough water contributes to a healthy lifestyle. Nowhere in the world is the quality of drinking water as high as it is in the Netherlands. To raise children's awareness of this and explain why drinking tap water is a healthy and sustainable choice, the ten Dutch drinking water companies (Brabant Water, Dunea, Evides Waterbedrijf, Oasen, PWN, Vitens, Waterbedrijf Groningen, Waternet, WMD and WML) jointly organize National Tap Water Day.
For primary schools and after-school care
All primary schools and after-school care centers can participate in National Tap Water Day and use the free educational materials. The material is offered at three levels: grades 1–3, grades 4–6 and grades 7–8.
