A green learning environment is important because it increases children’s concentration and appreciation of the classroom and improves the indoor climate. This is not insignificant, as children spend an average of 40% of their waking hours during the week in a classroom. Moreover, planting and caring for their own green learning space is both fun and educational.
IVN will select 20 schools from the submissions to work with IVN and its partners.
As a participating school, you will receive:
- One personal houseplant per pupil (maximum 30 pupils), which the pupils may take home at the end of the school year;
- A piece of furniture to house the plants in the classroom;
- Materials for caring for and propagating the plants;
- A ready-to-use educational package about planting, caring for and propagating the plants;
- Communication materials to tell parents, among others, about your BinnenBos.
We ask participating schools to:
- Participate in the online training for teachers;
- Implement the educational package;
- Provide feedback on the approach through a survey and an online brainstorming session.
