Simon Weel is Manager of Sports & Events at ROC Nova College. He has taken part in all seven study trips so far—to Canada, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Norway, Scotland and Denmark. He gives several reasons for participating time and again:

  • gaining knowledge and experience in another country on the subject
  • intercultural experience
  • learning about good-practice initiatives with a sustainable character
  • making new contacts in the context of possible international cooperation in the field
  • meeting new participants from his own country who are involved
  • with the subject
  • meeting existing contacts from his own country again in order to deepen and share knowledge and cooperation

Weel expects Iceland to make the difference. “Through a contact who previously took part in a trip on the same subject, I heard that Iceland is leading the way and that there is a top model. I also expect fun and inspiring participants, a varied programme and examples of a feasible and sustainable educational programme on the subject.”
