Come and taste!

For 20 years, the Netherlands Nutrition Centre has been helping schools make their canteens healthier and more sustainable. The Netherlands Nutrition Centre would therefore be happy to show you what a canteen looks like according to the Guidelines for Healthy Food Environments in Schools. Experience how (small) changes to the range of products and the presentation influence young people’s choices in the canteen.

Has your school already taken great steps and are you ready for more? Then discover how you can get started with student participation. Make a difference and come and taste (online) on 16 March! Below you will find the programme for the day.

Delicious competition

Do you have a healthy sandwich that should be put on the menu in all school canteens? Or will you come up with a healthy lunch dish together with students that everyone should taste? Then enter the competition! Students, members of school management, canteen managers and caterers—everyone can take part!

Send your recipe by 7 February, stating ‘Delicious competition’, to [email protected]. And explain why this recipe is such a success at your school. The Netherlands Nutrition Centre will select the tastiest recipes, have professional photographs taken of them and compile them in a special recipe booklet.

On 16 March, the Netherlands Nutrition Centre will announce the winners during the opening and unveil the recipe booklet. Are you the big winner? Then your recipe will appear on the cover, and chef Maryam will come to your school to cook together with the students.

Is your school already taking part?

By signing the Statement of Ambition, schools show that they are committed to a healthy future. Has your school not yet signed the 2021–2025 Statement of Ambition? Sign it now and be in with a chance of a special visit from one of the Food Environment advisers on 16 March. This is a great way to make a flying start!

For all schools that have already signed the Statement of Ambition, the Netherlands Nutrition Centre is organising online speed dates on Healthy School Canteen Day. Here, you can ask a Food Environment adviser all your questions.
