Why this change?
School canteens are leading the way in the Netherlands when it comes to making food environments healthier. Almost half of all school locations (secondary education and MBO) have achieved a School Canteen Scale in the past three years. The call to make other food environments healthier and more sustainable is growing louder! Think of company restaurants, amusement parks, hospitals and sports venues.
More and more of these organisations are working on their food environment. We help them set ambitions and take steps towards the Wheel of Five. That is why Healthy School Canteen developed the Food Environment Guidelines, based on experience with the Healthy Canteen Guidelines and the Wheel of Five.
Healthy School Canteen now feels that it is time to carry out its work under one banner, hence this name change from Healthy Canteen Guidelines to Guideline for School Food Environments.
Will nothing really change for schools?
Nothing will change for schools. Apart from the name, the content of the Healthy Canteen Guidelines will remain the same. The familiar School Canteen Brigade will also remain available, although a brigade member will henceforth be called a Food Environment Adviser.
