Why green schoolyards?
Children spend approximately 40% of the time they are awake at school, mostly indoors in the classroom. Research shows that this has an impact on children's social, emotional and motor development, as well as a positive effect on teachers' vitality. Green schoolyards offer great opportunities in this regard. The aim of the Green Revolution Zeeland Schoolyards is to give all children in Zeeland a green place to play and learn within one school generation.
Green schoolyards for primary schools
Zeeland schools would like to become greener, but often lack the necessary resources. To help schools with their transformation from grey to green, IVN Nature Education, with the support of the province of Zeeland, is offering a voucher. In this way, we help schools achieve their own ambition to create a green schoolyard. Every primary school in Zeeland has a chance of receiving a voucher worth 10,000 euros to make its schoolyard greener. Each 10,000-euro voucher requires co-financing of at least 5,000 euros from the municipality. The school must also contribute at least 5,000 euros in resources.
Submit your idea!
A good idea is half the work. A clear vision in which the child is central is the starting point. Why does your school want to become greener? And what will it look like? Make sure that the application form you complete is well substantiated, meets the assessment criteria and is complete when you submit it. The entries will be assessed by representatives of the Green Revolution partners. A maximum of 8 schools will be selected from the entries to receive 10,000 euros. Registration
Registration opens on 1 February 2023 and closes on 12 March 2023. A telephone conversation may be part of the selection process. These will be held on 15 or 16 March 2023. The schools will be informed by 21 March at the latest whether they will participate in the Green Revolution in 2023. The kick-off will take place on Monday afternoon, 27 March 2023, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Please keep this date free in your calendar. The school's applicants/contact persons will be invited to attend. The school must complete the physical transformation by 31 December 2023.
