Starting a school garden can be quite overwhelming, especially if you do not yet have much experience with vegetable gardening. In that case, a helping hand to get you started can be very useful.

All kinds of help

Could you use help, for example, with creating a growing plan, a work schedule or the lessons? Then take part in the ‘Golden Carrot Seed’ competition during School Garden Week (8–12 April)! As the winner, you will receive support from a vegetable garden coach or a financial contribution to help you get started.

How to enter

Would you like to be eligible for the Golden Carrot Seed? You can already start thinking about the obstacles you experience when starting a school garden. Then, before 1 April 2024, send in a short video clearly showing the specific help you need. You can send your video via WeTransfer to: [email protected], stating: Golden Carrot Seed Submission – school name and municipality.

Voting for the best entry

The School Gardens Alliance will publish the entries on 8 April, the first day of School Garden Week. The School Gardens Alliance will then call on everyone to vote for the help request that most deserves support. On Thursday 11 April, the School Gardens Alliance will announce the winner.

Digital consultation hour

On Thursday 11 April, the School Gardens Alliance will hold a digital nationwide consultation hour, ‘First Aid for School Gardening’. This is intended for schools that have become enthusiastic about school gardening and want to know how to get started. Put it in your calendar now! More information will follow later.

The School Gardens Alliance wishes you every success in making a fun video!
