The educational programme connects the passion of many children and young people—esports and gaming—with social themes such as health, social interaction, and education and employment. The programme also responds to the target group’s desire to become a better gamer or esports player.
Both partners are convinced that a healthy lifestyle and becoming a better gamer and esports player can go hand in hand perfectly. De Jong explains: “Those who sleep well, eat healthily, exercise enough, feel good about themselves, and behave socially will be fit enough and have better concentration. This lays the foundation for becoming a better gamer or esports player. An additional benefit is that this can also improve school performance.”
The first part of the educational programme will start this school year at several schools in Rotterdam. Several other municipalities have also already responded enthusiastically to the programme. As soon as it can be implemented nationwide, this will be announced on www.gezondeleefstijlopschool.nl and www.houseofesports.nl. For questions, please contact [email protected] or [email protected].
