During the meeting, Gonneke Stevens, associate professor at Utrecht University and project leader of the HBSC study on the health, behavior and social environment of young people, will discuss the extent to which young people in the Netherlands experience school stress and its possible causes. She will also address risk factors for school stress at the individual, family, school and societal levels, as well as the consequences for young people's mental health. Based on the four pillars of the Healthy School approach, she will discuss what these insights mean for approaches in education aimed at reducing school stress.
At the conference, other schools will explain how they have tackled the issue. There will be a presentation by Stijn Uittenbogaard, a teacher at Jordan Montessori Lyceum in Zeist. The school recently decided to close Magister to parents in order to reduce performance pressure on students. Stijn Uittenboogaard will explain the school's vision and approach.
The third speaker is Dirk-Jan van Dijk, project leader at the VO-raad. Together with LAKS, he is responsible for the project Reducing Test Pressure. The project team would like to discuss this with you: what is going on, what challenges are you facing, and what solutions are available?
During the conference, there will be an opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences and to discuss possibilities and opportunities for your school.
