Food Challenge: healthy eating, sustainability and exercise
The Food Challenge educational package consists of three components: lessons at school, guest lessons from students and an excursion to a farm. As a common thread throughout the lessons, students design their own healthy poké bowl using sustainable products and create a fun and sporty boot camp, which they will also take part in themselves during the excursion to the farm.
Once all the schools have completed their poké bowls, a professional jury will choose ‘the best poké bowl in the North-Central Netherlands’. The winner may treat the entire school to the winning poké bowl and will receive a workshop from a top chef or a competition involving a professional club as a prize.
Educational package tested for special secondary and practical education
Food Challenge is a recognised intervention. The adapted educational package for special education is currently being tested by eight PrO and VSO schools. This ensures that the lessons are well aligned with the needs of the target group.
Collaboration and support
Food Challenge is organised by LekkerBoer in collaboration with vocational colleges and is supported by Jong Leren Eten, provinces, municipalities and the business community. Stichting Special Heroes Nederland supports organisations in special (secondary) and practical education with the Healthy Heroes learning pathway and with the implementation of activities aimed at making a healthy and active lifestyle accessible to people with disabilities.
