Preventing hearing damage in children and young people is an important issue and a growing problem in the Netherlands: 1 in 7 children have suffered hearing damage as a result of loud noise. This hearing damage is irreversible and has a negative impact on, among other things, (academic) performance and well-being. Preventing hearing damage is therefore of great importance, especially at a young age. Schools can play an important role in this. That is why VeiligheidNL is now calling on schools for help.

Earn €40 twice and help VeiligheidNL prevent hearing damage in children

VeiligheidNL would like to speak with primary school teachers in the upper grades, secondary school teachers in the lower grades, and internal support coordinators. No knowledge of hearing damage prevention is required. However, VeiligheidNL would like to speak with teachers and internal support coordinators via Zoom or Teams to explore how hearing damage prevention can best be incorporated into education. A second digital meeting will take place at the beginning of December.

Afterwards, VeiligheidNL will use the findings to prepare advice for the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport.

Compensation

Participants will receive a €40 gift voucher each time. VeiligheidNL asks you to participate in both meetings: 4 November and the beginning of December.

Our Food Week

A great opportunity to focus with your class at primary school on where our food comes from, how it is made and why healthy and sustainable choices are important. Food education allows pupils not only to learn, but especially to experience. That is why various organisations are joining forces to support schools with inspiring activities, teaching materials and practical tools. Examples include the Mayors’ Breakfast, a free visit to a farm, or shopping vouchers for cooking in the classroom.
