The Digi-doers are about game monetization models. The lessons are free and quick to prepare.

The first lesson is intended for the upper grades of primary school and ties in with mathematics and media literacy: https://lnkd.in/gW8chYT. During this lesson, students experience how monetization models in games work by trying them out themselves.

The second lesson is for years 1 and 2 of secondary school and can be taught as part of Dutch: https://lnkd.in/gWWkPGN. Monetization models in games are changing. In the past, you bought a game and could then play it through to the end, whereas nowadays there are often opportunities to make additional purchases within the game. This is called microtransactions. In this Digi-doer, students play a language game in class in which they can make ‘microtransactions’. This allows them to experience the monetization models used by game developers.

LessonUp was founded in the Netherlands in 2015 by Kars & Martin from Q42 and Janneke. All three felt that teaching and learning at school should be fun and exciting.
