Volunteers from De Kindertelefoon give guest lessons throughout the country in primary and secondary schools. During the guest lessons, they explain why De Kindertelefoon exists, the importance of talking, and what you can contact De Kindertelefoon about. The guest lesson volunteer is trained to talk with children and young people.
The lesson about De Kindertelefoon connects with many subject areas and core objectives in primary and secondary education. The lesson can be used for social-emotional development and healthy and self-reliant behaviour. For mentor lessons, or when the school uses a teaching method for these areas of focus, the lesson about De Kindertelefoon is an excellent addition.
Who is it for?
The guest lessons are intended for groups 5, 6, 7 and 8 of primary school and years 1 and 2 of secondary school. The lessons are tailored to the age of the pupils. There are two options:
Option 1: De Kindertelefoon gives the guest lesson
The lessons are given by two volunteers from De Kindertelefoon. They explain what questions and problems children and young people can contact De Kindertelefoon about and how these are dealt with. Various themes are discussed, such as being in love, bullying, sexuality, friendship, child abuse and divorce. In addition to a basic lesson, there is also material for further exploration in a follow-up lesson. This further exploration is optional.
Option 2: the school gives the guest lesson itself
Schools can also request the lesson package themselves and have their own mentors or teachers give the lesson.
Costs
A basic lesson lasts approximately 50 minutes. The cost of a guest lesson is €30. Each additional guest lesson on the same day and at the same school costs an extra €2.50, up to a maximum of €40.
