Not all children have the opportunity to exercise. This may be due to a lack of space, a disability or insufficient financial resources. The Cruyff Foundation believes that every child should be given the space to play sports and exercise, because this is how they develop. VMBO and MBO students from all over the Netherlands are now going to help!

They are doing so as participants in Vakkanjers, a programme in which VMBO and MBO students discover and develop their professional skills. The teams with the best designs will pitch their ideas during the national Vakkanjers LIVE final event in June 2020.

Various assignments

In the challenge, the teams receive different assignments, depending on their year and level of study. For example, first-year VMBO students consider innovative improvements for the Cruyff Courts and Schoolplein14. Third- and fourth-year VMBO students come up with ideas to strengthen the (digital) interaction between participants and the Cruyff Court. The MBO Vakkanjers design an attraction that the Cruyff Foundation can use during events.

About Vakkanjers

Vakkanjers is an initiative of the technical sectors to get more young people interested in technology. Through Vakkanjers, boys and girls in VMBO and MBO discover and develop their professional skills. They do this through realistic assignments for a national commissioning client. In addition to technical skills, the students also develop 21st-century skills such as taking initiative, teamwork and customer contact. With these skills, they will have an advantage in the labour market later on.
