Checklist for Purple Friday at school

Friday, 12 December is Purple Friday. On that day, schools focus on the fact that everyone should be able to be themselves, regardless of who you are, what your skin colour is, what you believe in or who you fall in love with. The School & Safety Foundation has created a Checklist for a safe and respectful Purple Friday at school.

With the Checklist for a safe and respectful Purple Friday at school you will discover what is needed to safely create space for diversity, gender diversity and sexual diversity at school, and how you can safely participate in days such as Purple Friday.

The Checklist contains:

Questions to investigate whether the atmosphere at school is safe and inclusive.
Tips for increasing social safety and creating space for gender and sexual diversity.
10 reasons to participate in Purple Friday.
Inspiration, practical tools and useful websites for working towards a safe school.

The checklist is intended for everyone working on social safety, diversity and inclusion in primary and secondary education and in secondary vocational education.

Ten tips for the Golden Weeks in primary education

After every holiday, a group goes through certain phases in the process of group formation. The first weeks at the beginning of the school year are called the Golden Weeks. Our Food Week

From 3 to 10 October 2026, it is Our Food Week. A great opportunity to focus with your class at primary school on where our food comes from, how it is made and why healthy and sustainable choices are important. Food education allows pupils not only to learn, but especially to experience. That is why various organisations are joining forces to support schools with inspiring activities, teaching materials and practical tools. Examples include the Mayors’ Breakfast, a free visit to a farm, or shopping vouchers for cooking in the classroom.
