The ‘Clean air childcare and school’ app contains a step-by-step plan, solutions, information in clear language and more. The app is intended for childcare professionals, teachers, location managers, childcare providers, caretakers, directors and governing bodies in childcare and education.

Step-by-step plan

The most important part of this app is the step-by-step plan, which enables professionals in childcare and schools to get started easily and immediately. First, the user chooses the type of building, then how air enters the room (for example through windows or vents) and how the air leaves the room. The solutions that can improve ventilation in that specific situation are then displayed.

Solutions: from simple to extensive

The solutions are divided into 3 levels, indicated by 1, 2 or 3 fans.

Level 1 solutions are very simple and can be implemented immediately. These solutions involve no or little cost. Level 2 solutions are straightforward and relatively inexpensive, and are needed if the level 1 solutions do not quite produce sufficient results. Level 3 solutions involve major interventions and cost more. For example, installing a new ventilation system. An indication of the costs is provided for each solution.

Advice and more information in clear language

In addition to solutions for cleaner air, the app contains general information about ventilation. Terms are explained in clear language so that the app is also accessible to users who have no knowledge of the subject. Users can look up advice, such as 10 tips that quickly improve ventilation and cost (almost) nothing. The app also explains which laws apply to air quality.

Why this app?

The (poor) air quality at childcare locations and in schools has received a great deal of attention recently. Good ventilation has a positive effect on children's development. Clean air helps children learn better. Clean air leads to fewer health complaints and lower absenteeism due to illness.
