Will you become a co-author and school garden ambassador?

The Alliance School Gardens is looking for 20–30 experienced school garden teachers and educators to contribute as co-authors to the booklet ‘The Garden Is the School’. You will become a contributor, which means that you will become part of this community of ambassadors and contribute your experience within it. Together with others and the Alliance editor, you will write one or several short articles in which you share your best, most enjoyable or most suitable school garden lessons or integrated approach involving other subjects. You may also be asked to contribute (for appropriate compensation) to (online) masterclasses or events organised by the Alliance to promote school garden education.

What do we ask of you?

  • You will attend the co-authors’ meeting on 12 November in Ede from 15:00 to 20:00
  • You are familiar with the new (draft) core objectives and relate them to your experience, lessons and stories
  • You are willing to occasionally contribute to the promotion of school gardens in primary education. (For example: you contribute to an online masterclass, a workshop at an event, etc.).

Your profile

  • You have experience with school garden education as a teacher or educator in the school garden.
  • You have ideas about how the school garden can become part of the school’s basic curriculum.
  • You enjoy sharing your knowledge and experience through text, images, video or live presentations.
  • You have ideas for advancing school garden education in the Netherlands.

What we offer

  • You will become a contributor within an inspiring, knowledge-rich group of school garden experts and ambassadors
  • You will participate in a fully catered and inspiring meeting in preparation for the booklet ‘The Garden Is the School’. We will take care of the organisation and a good meal.
  • Your name will appear as a co-author in the booklet, and you will receive 5 copies of the finished product to share with your network.
  • When you write articles for our website or contribute to events, you will receive appropriate compensation.

Include the following in your response:

  • Your name, email address and postal address.
  • Your background: Education/school garden/other.
  • Tell us more about your background and experience, and about your school garden and school garden experience.

And above all, don’t forget:

To describe which experience, lessons or expertise you think you could share for inclusion in the booklet ‘The Garden Is the School’. What is particularly important to the Alliance is that the booklet reflects a broad range of experiences while still following a single thematic line.
