“By using popular Disney characters, we want to make it easier for families to make healthy food choices. As ALDI, we want to encourage healthy food and a healthy lifestyle among families with young children. By using, among other things, magical Disney princesses on Wheel of Five products, we believe it will be easier for children and parents to choose healthy products. At the same time, we also discourage unhealthy choices, such as through the age restriction on the sale of energy drinks, and we have removed other figures from the packaging of unhealthy products,” says Nadie Winde, Manager Corporate Responsibility at Aldi Netherlands.
More magic will be added to healthy products over the course of the year. These will include the following Wheel of Five products: mineral water, mini corn cakes, snack tomatoes, sweet little apples, yoghurt drinks, cartons of semi-skimmed milk, apple purée (with no added sugar), spreadable cheese for kids 30+ and snack cucumbers.
About ALDI and healthy food
ALDI considers it its responsibility to make responsible, affordable and healthy food accessible to a broad group of customers. It also takes measures that contribute to health in society and focuses in particular on families with (young) children. For example, ALDI works closely with the National School Breakfast Foundation. JOGG and the Missing Chapter Foundation are also important partners. Together with them, ALDI encourages customers to make better and healthier choices. The focus is on raising awareness of the importance of a healthy diet.
