On pro-ana websites, young people with eating problems give each other online tips on how to lose even more weight. There are also pro-ana coaches who are seeking sexually suggestive images.
One of the actions is to make positive websites and chat services such as Proud2Bme, 99gram, WEET and IOVM, which contributed to the agenda, easier to find online. Forums, chats and social platforms will also be used to reach young people with an eating disorder more effectively and offer them support.
Professionals in the healthcare and criminal justice sectors will receive a fact sheet and guidance on the steps they can take to help a young person and, if necessary, report or file a police complaint about contact with a pro-ana coach. The action agenda should also increase the police's knowledge of signals indicating pro-ana activity and of the assistance to which they can refer young people.
The media will receive guidelines for responsible reporting, including tips on the use of appropriate images, information about eating disorders and the risks of pro-ana.
